Presets are the fastest for social media because they encode the exact dimensions each network expects and update as those specs change.

    Fit shrinks the image so the entire photo appears inside the target box, adding padding (transparent PNG or white JPEG) around the edges — best for logos on a canvas. Fill zooms and center-crops so the target box is completely covered with no bars, which is what Instagram and Twitter effectively do. Stretch ignores the aspect ratio and squishes the image to the exact target — only use it for textures or when the source already matches the ratio.

    Shrinking is nearly lossless because you're discarding pixels the eye barely uses; a Lanczos resampler is used behind the scenes to keep edges sharp. Enlarging beyond the source resolution always softens the image because pixels have to be invented — expect noticeable blur above 150% and heavy pixelation above 200%. For big upscales use a dedicated AI upscaler; for downscales, this tool matches Photoshop's Bicubic Sharper output.
