    Zakat Calculator Free is a browser-based single-page tool that walks you through Step 1: Enter Assets, Step 2: Enter Liabilities & Debts, and Step 3: Review & Calculate, then shows a breakdown and suggested Zakat amount. Click the blue Calculate Zakat button to get an instant 2.5% computation on net zakatable assets, see Nisab comparisons (gold vs silver), and use Export PDF or Download CSV to save results. The page runs client-side JavaScript so the calculation happens in your browser; the only network calls are optional rate/FX lookups performed on demand.

    Open the site, go to Step 1: Enter Assets and fill fields such as Gold (g), Silver (g), Cash & Bank, Investments, Business Inventory and Receivables; you can add extra rows with the Add Investment button (up to 30 rows). In Step 2: Enter Liabilities enter outstanding debts and short-term liabilities, then click Calculate Zakat. The results panel shows Net Zakatable Assets, Nisab threshold, and Zakat due at 2.5%, plus buttons Copy Result, Export PDF (.pdf) and Download CSV (.csv) to save a copy.

    The tool offers both gold-based and silver-based nisab: 85 grams of gold or 595 grams of silver are used as defaults. You can either let the calculator auto-fetch the current gold/silver price (price lookup is cached for 12 hours) or manually enter a price per gram in the Market Price fields. The displayed Nisab amount converts the chosen metal threshold into your selected currency, and the summary highlights whether your net assets are above or below nisab before applying the 2.5% rate.

    Enter your holdings in the Gold (g) and Silver (g) input boxes — the gold field accepts purity selection (24k, 22k, 18k) and automatically adjusts to estimate fine gold weight for you. The calculator multiplies grams by the price-per-gram field (auto-fill via market lookup or manual entry) to convert to currency value, then includes that in total zakatable assets. If your gold/silver value alone exceeds the chosen nisab, the tool shows the 2.5% amount; Export PDF will include a line-by-line weight and valuation table.

    Yes — under Investments you can add up to 30 rows with Type/Description, Amount and Currency; supported asset descriptions include Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds and Crypto. You can either type amounts directly or import a CSV (see Import CSV) with headers category,description,amount,currency,date; CSV import accepts UTF-8 .csv files up to 2,000 lines and ~2 MB. The calculator treats market value of investments as zakatable where applicable and applies the standard 2.5% to the net value after liabilities; crypto is treated as a market-value asset and must be entered in fiat or converted before import.

    After calculation you can use Download CSV to save a .csv file with columns category,description,amount,currency,date,nisab_basis,net_value and zakat_due; the CSV is UTF-8 and opens cleanly in Excel/Google Sheets. Export PDF generates a client-side .pdf using your browser’s print engine (clicking Export PDF opens the print dialog; Save as PDF produces the .pdf). There’s also Copy Result which writes a plain-text summary to the clipboard (some browsers like Safari will prompt to allow clipboard access).

    Use the Import CSV button and upload a UTF-8 encoded .csv file exported from Excel/Google Sheets (File → Save As → CSV UTF-8). The tool expects header row: category,description,amount,currency,date (commas as separators, decimal point . for fractions). Imports are limited to 2,000 lines; if your Excel used commas as decimal separators or semicolons as delimiters, choose Excel’s Export → CSV UTF-8 with “.” decimals, or replace separators before import to avoid “CSV import failed” errors.

    On desktop Chrome and Firefox the calculator runs smoothly and allows direct CSV downloads and Save as PDF; on iOS Safari automatic file downloads open in a new tab and may require tapping the Share → Save File to keep a .csv. iOS Safari can also clear page state if the tab is backgrounded for a long time, so save intermittently; Android Chrome handles large imports better but very old phones may slow down once you exceed ~30 rows. Also Safari may block clipboard writes until you grant permission so the Copy Result button can prompt you to allow access.

    The tool supports a currency dropdown (USD, EUR, GBP, INR, AED and others) and auto-fetches FX rates from a public ECB-style feed on demand; rates are cached in localStorage for up to 12 hours to avoid repeated calls. Conversions round to two decimal places for display; you can override the auto rate with a manual rate entry if you prefer. If you are offline or block third-party calls, the tool will use cached rates or require you to enter currency conversion manually before calculating nisab and totals.

    The Zakat Calculator Free site requires no signup, is free to use, and does not add watermarks to exports; Export PDF and Download CSV are fully available with no account. Calculations and exports are performed client-side in your browser so the main data is kept in localStorage and not uploaded by default; only optional network requests (market price / FX lookups) contact third-party APIs. If you need persistent multi-device history, export CSV and store it in your own cloud drive — the app itself does not maintain server-side user histories.

    Common issues include “Invalid amount” when commas are used as decimal separators — fix by replacing commas with a dot or re-exporting CSV as UTF-8 with dot decimals. “CSV import failed” usually means missing headers or wrong delimiter; open the file in a text editor to confirm the first row reads category,description,amount,currency,date. If nisab/price lookups fail, refresh the page to re-request rates or manually type the market price per gram; on iOS, avoid backgrounding the tab during imports to prevent state loss.

    Use the Download CSV after each calculation and include a date field so you can keep a yearly archive; the CSV can be opened in Excel/Google Sheets for trend charts, pivot tables, and multi-year comparisons. The web calculator is faster for one-off, audited-ready numbers and PDF export, while Excel is better for batch processing, automated formulas and repeating-year templates. For polished combined reports use browser Export PDF for single calculations and Acrobat or Excel’s Export → PDF to combine multiple yearly CSV-derived reports into a single PDF file for filing.
