    Convert volume and capacity units

Litres, millilitres, gallons, cups, pints, tablespoons and cubic units in one converter.

Cooking measurements that differ by country

A US cup, a UK cup and a metric cup are not the same. Converting removes the guesswork from an imported recipe.

The converter supports a broad set of units grouped in the unit dropdown under Metric, US Customary and Imperial: milliliters (mL), liters (L), cubic centimeters (cm³), teaspoons (tsp), tablespoons (tbsp), fluid ounces (US fl oz and Imperial fl oz), cups (US cup and metric 250 mL cup), pints, quarts, gallons (US/Imperial), cubic inches, cubic feet, cubic meters (m³) and liters. The left-hand input field accepts numbers, fractions like “1 1/2”, or scientific notation (e.g. 2.5e6). Internally we use precise constants (US fl oz = 29.5735295625 mL, 1 ft³ = 0.028316846592 m³) and the dropdown button is labeled “Units”.

Enter the numeric value into the main input box on the left, choose “mL” from the source unit dropdown, then pick the target cup type from the right dropdown (choose “US cup — 236.5882365 mL” or “Metric cup — 250 mL”). Click the blue Convert button or press Enter and the result appears instantly below the fields. Use the Decimals slider (default 3) to adjust rounding; choose 0–9 decimals for more or less precision and click Copy Results or Download CSV to export the result. The UI supports pasted numbers and fractional inputs such as “240” or “1 1/4”.

Type the liters value into the left input, select “L” (liters) in the left unit dropdown, then open the right unit dropdown and pick either “US gallon — 3.785411784 L” or “Imperial gallon — 4.54609 L” depending on which gallon system you need. Press the Convert button or hit Enter; the converted value shows immediately with the chosen number of decimals displayed beneath the fields. To reverse units use the Swap Units button; to save the result for a recipe or report click Download CSV (.csv) or Copy Results to clipboard. The default rounding is 3 decimals but you can change it with the Decimals control.

The tool offers both US fluid ounce (1 US fl oz = 29.5735295625 mL) and Imperial/UK fluid ounce (1 imp fl oz = 28.4130625 mL) in the right-hand unit menu. Calculations use double-precision JavaScript and display up to 9 decimal places reliably; the Decimals slider defaults to 3 but you can increase precision to 9 decimals for scientific needs. For very large or very small numbers (greater than ~1e15 or smaller than 1e-9) you may see floating-point rounding—use scientific notation input like 1e6 to keep values readable. Click Copy Results to paste exact numeric output elsewhere.

Yes — select cubic feet (ft³) in the source dropdown and cubic meters (m³) in the target dropdown; the tool uses the exact constant 1 ft³ = 0.028316846592 m³. Conversion is free with no signup and you can set precision from 0 to 9 decimals; default is 3 decimals which is usually fine for construction and HVAC estimates, but increase decimals for engineering work. Batch CSV conversions are also free (see Upload CSV), though very large files may be slower in low‑memory browsers because processing happens in your browser's JavaScript engine.

The tool includes common kitchen measures and explicitly lists US and metric variants: US cup 236.5882365 mL, metric cup 250 mL, US pint 473.176473 mL, US quart and US gallon (3.785411784 L), plus Imperial counterparts. For recipe work you can enter ingredients in mL, cups or tbsp and use the Decimals control to round to 0–3 decimals for kitchen-friendly quantities. The Copy Results button copies plain text without watermarks; if you need ingredient lists use Upload CSV to convert multiple rows and then Download CSV (.csv) to get a spreadsheet-ready file.

Click Upload CSV to import a CSV file (comma-delimited, .csv) or choose Upload XLSX for a basic .xlsx file; the uploader accepts up to 5 MB or 5,000 rows, whichever comes first. The column picker asks you to map which CSV/XLSX column contains the numeric value and which contains the unit; press Convert All to process the file client-side and then Download CSV or Download JSON to export results. Note: large .xlsx files are parsed with a client-side library and may be slow or fail on low-memory mobile devices, so prefer CSV for big batches.

Use the Decimals slider (0–9) to control display rounding; the default is 3 decimals, good for recipes and most measurements. Internally the converter uses IEEE 754 double precision so operations are precise up to about 15 significant digits; increasing displayed decimals past 9 can show floating-point noise and won't increase true precision. Trade-offs: higher decimals improve scientific accuracy but make results harder to read, and very high precision on huge datasets uses more browser CPU and memory which can slow older devices.

Decimal separator behavior follows your device locale and browser: iOS devices often show a numeric keypad with a comma if the system locale uses commas (for example German), and some Android keyboards do the same. The tool accepts both dot and comma as decimal separators in the input; commas are normalized to dots before conversion. If you experience problems with pasted numbers, switch to a desktop browser (Chrome/Firefox on Windows or macOS) where the number input shows a dot by default, or manually replace commas with dots before pressing Convert.

NaN appears when the input contains non-numeric characters (e.g., letters) or malformed fractions; fix by using plain numbers, valid fractions like “3 1/2”, or scientific notation like 1e3. Overflow or Infinity can appear if values exceed ~1e308 (JavaScript limit); reduce the magnitude (use scientific notation) or split the calculation into smaller steps. If batch upload fails, check CSV encoding (UTF-8), remove blank header rows, and ensure you didn’t exceed the 5 MB / 5,000 row limit; on mobile try a desktop browser if parsing times out.

Volume Converter — Free Online Unit Conversion is completely free to use in your browser with no signup required and no watermarks on numeric results or downloaded CSV/JSON files. There are practical limits to protect client-side performance (single-value input up to about 1e15 for reliable precision, batch uploads capped at 5 MB / 5,000 rows). Processing is done in your browser (client-side) which avoids server uploads for privacy, but large batch jobs may be slower on low-memory devices compared with a desktop spreadsheet application.

The UI is responsive: desktop Chrome/Firefox handles large batch CSV/XLSX files faster and provides full keyboard input and clipboard copy/paste; mobile browsers (Safari on iOS, Chrome on Android) work great for single conversions but can struggle with large CSV imports due to memory limits. On iOS the numeric keyboard may show a comma as decimal separator, and file access for .xlsx upload requires Files app permissions. For best batch performance use desktop and Chrome/Firefox; for quick kitchen conversions the mobile interface is optimized for one-hand use and the Convert button sits just below the input.
