    FAQ

    Preguntas frecuentes

Open the page, click the "Upload PDF" (or drag & drop) area and choose a .pdf file from your computer or phone, then click the blue "Extract images" button. The tool scans the PDF in your browser and lists every embedded image as thumbnails; you can click individual "Download" buttons or choose "Download all as ZIP" to get a .zip file containing .jpg/.png files. If you want conversion, enable the "Convert to PNG" checkbox or select "Output: JPG" and set the quality slider before extracting. No signup is required and the UI shows progress for large files.

Input must be a standard .pdf file; the extractor supports PDFs containing embedded images in common formats (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP). Output options are .jpg and .png per image, and multiple images are packaged as a .zip for download. In typical desktop browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) a single PDF up to ~50 MB works comfortably; on mobile Safari you may see issues above ~20–30 MB due to memory limits. The tool reliably lists up to ~200 extracted images per PDF before browser memory slows the process.

By default the extractor pulls the embedded image bytes from the PDF, so you get the original resolution and compression (for example a 3000×2000 JPEG stays 3000×2000). If you select the optional conversion to JPG or PNG the tool will re-encode the image; a JPG conversion uses a quality slider (0–100, default 85) so lower values produce smaller files with lossy artifacts. Choose PNG to preserve lossless quality and transparency, but expect larger file sizes compared with JPG.

The tool extracts any raster images that are actually embedded inside the PDF, so scanned PDFs that were created by scanning pages (where each page is a single large JPEG/PNG) will yield those page images. However, if the PDF is a vector file with artwork drawn in vectors (not raster images), the extractor won’t produce separate high-resolution photo files — instead you’d need to export pages or use a vector-aware tool. Also note that OCRed PDFs where text lives separately won’t create images unless an image object exists on the page.

If the PDF is password-protected, the extractor cannot open it until you remove the password or provide the correct owner/user password; the upload step will usually fail with a "password required" or "cannot read file" message. Remove protection using Acrobat or another tool on your device first, then upload the unlocked .pdf to "Extract Images from PDF Free Online — Save All Photos." For PDFs with DRM or corrupted structure the extractor will show an error and suggest re-exporting the PDF from the source application.

After extraction the interface shows thumbnails with a small "Download" button beneath each image that saves that image as .jpg or .png depending on your output selection. To get every image in one go, click "Download all as ZIP" which creates a .zip archive (images named image001.jpg, image002.png, etc.). On desktop browsers clicking a thumbnail's "Download" uses the browser’s default download folder; in Safari on macOS you’ll be prompted for a save location if you have that setting enabled.

Chrome and Firefox on desktop handle larger PDFs (~50 MB) more robustly because they provide more memory to the page; Edge behaves similarly. Safari on iOS is more likely to fail or stall with large files due to mobile memory constraints and the tendency of iOS to convert saved PNGs to HEIC when saving to the Photos app. If you hit issues on mobile, try Chrome or Firefox on Android, or use desktop Safari/Chrome for very large PDFs. Also expect different download folder behavior: Safari asks for save location, Chrome saves to the browser download folder.

The extractor processes the PDF in your browser, so files are not sent to a third-party server for extraction; extracted images are created in-memory and downloaded directly to your device. If you need an additional safeguard, avoid using public Wi‑Fi and clear your browser cache after use; the site does not require signup and does not add watermarks. For workflows that require certified on-premise processing (legal evidence or classified material) use an offline tool or enterprise software with audit logs.

For PDFs with many images (100–200+), use the "Download all as ZIP" option to avoid repeated manual downloads; the browser will assemble the archive in-memory which can spike memory usage. If a single embedded image is extremely large (several thousand pixels or tens of megabytes), the extraction will pull the original bytes and the resulting file size can be dozens of megabytes; consider converting to JPG with a lower quality setting (for example 75–85) to reduce size. If the browser crashes, process the PDF in smaller chunks by splitting the file in Acrobat or another PDF splitter.

Blank thumbnails usually mean the PDF contains vector content or the image objects are stored in an uncommon color space (CMYK or JPEG2000); try exporting pages as images in Acrobat or re-saving the PDF as a print-ready PDF then re-run extraction. If extraction stops or the page becomes unresponsive, refresh and retry on desktop Chrome or split the PDF into smaller files — large memory spikes on mobile are a common cause. For "unsupported image format" messages, open the PDF in Acrobat and export the embedded images to confirm format, then upload that PDF again or convert the extracted file locally.

Extract Images from PDF Free Online — Save All Photos pulls embedded image objects directly and saves them in their original bitstream, which preserves original resolution and compression without rasterizing the whole page. Acrobat Pro’s "Export All Images" achieves a similar result but requires a paid license; Acrobat's page export (File > Export To > Image) will rasterize pages, potentially changing resolution. Photoshop opens individual pages and rasterizes them at a chosen DPI, which is useful for high-quality re-editing but not if you need the exact original embedded JPEGs; use this web extractor when you want original files quickly without installation.
