If you need archival originals, keep the source file and use compressed copies for email, WhatsApp or web upload — the tool never overwrites your original.

Yes, but with two caveats. iPhone HEIC files are converted to JPEG on the fly before compression, which adds a second or two per file; iOS Safari also caps memory around 300 MB, so very large 48-megapixel ProRAW files may fail — a single HEIC under 15 MB works fine. Android Chrome handles WebP output natively and is generally the fastest mobile browser for batch runs; Samsung Internet works too but is slightly slower on PNG palette reduction.

"Unsupported format" usually means a RAW file (.CR2, .NEF, .ARW) — export to JPEG or TIFF from Lightroom/Photos first. "Out of memory" appears on phones with huge PNGs; resize on the same page to 2000 px and retry. Resize first, compress second — most photos on the web only need 1600–2000 px on the long edge, and dropping resolution saves more space than any quality tweak. Convert photos to WebP quality 75 for the web and to JPEG quality 82 for email; keep PNG only for screenshots and logos with sharp edges. Strip EXIF metadata (enabled by default in the Advanced panel) to shave another 5–20 KB per photo, and always compare the preview side-by-side before downloading.
